December 9, 2019.
That was the day my husband and I landed in Canada, ready to start a new chapter of our lives. We arrived with a lot of hope and big dreams, but it didn’t take long to realize we were also missing something deeply familiar: the authentic, soul-satisfing flavors of Indian home cooking.
In a new country, food isn’t just fuel; it’s a connection to your roots. We searched for a place that served the food we grew up with, the kind of dishes made with love and time, not just for a restaurant menu. But we couldn’t find it. This wasn’t a problem; it was an inspiration .
The Beginning: A Kitchen, A Dream, A Name
My kitchen quickly became the heart of my new life here. It was where I could recreate the tastes of home and share them with the new friends we were making. I realized that if I was craving this food, others must be too. My husband encouraged me to turn this passion into a purpose.
That’s how our first idea, “She’s The Indian Woman Kitchen,” came to life. It was a simple name, but it spoke directly to the heart of what we were doing: offering authentic food, made by an Indian woman, right in her kitchen. It was about sharing a piece of our culture, one dish at a time. The response was incredible, proving that the craving for a taste of home is a feeling many people share.
The Evolution: From a Kitchen to “Taash”
As our little business grew, we realized we were building something bigger than just a “kitchen.” We were creating a brand that felt modern, vibrant, and full of life much like the food we were making. We needed a name that reflected this new energy, something that was easy to remember and celebrated our Indian heritage in a fresh way.
That’s when we found Taash. In Hindi, it means “deck of cards.” It was the perfect metaphor for what we were building. Just like a deck has many different cards that come together to create a game, our brand is a collection of unique, flavorful dishes that come together to create an unforgettable experience. The name felt playful and connected to our culture, while also being bold and distinct. And so, “She’s The Indian Woman Kitchen” evolved into Taash.
Today, Taash is more than just a business; it’s a story of courage, passion, and the power of food to connect people. It’s a testament to the idea that you can bring a piece of your home with you, wherever you go, and share it with the world.
Thank you for being a part of our journey. We can’t wait to share a taste of our home with you.
